Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival Face
The 5th International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival, one of the largest Sand Festivals in the world, will be held in Lara Beach Park Complex in Antalya between 4 June and 14 November 2011. The festival is open to visitors between 10.00 – 23.00 hours.
The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, the Muratpaşa Municipality and the Antalya Association of Journalists. 25 professional sand sculptors will be attending the festival from Turkey and various countries.
Sand sculpture is a new art form where only water and sand are used for materials. Held in Antalya and given that more than 40 artists from 10 countries are participating along with the 7500 tons of sand used, makes this one of the world’s largest sand sculpture events.
Each year more than 120 thousand domestic and foreign visitors attend this event. In the exhibition space, both day and night, there will be special sound and light shows in addition to many activities and events happening at the same time.

“The theme for this year’s festival is Hollywood. Apart from the sand sculptors of legendary Hollywood stars, unforgettable scenes from Hollywood movies will also be sculptured in sand at the festival. The 7000 square meter giant area will also host a 25 meter long dinosaur made out of sand. The exhibition will be more dream like at nighttime with the special light and sound effects. Approximately 200,000 guests are expected to visit the sand exhibition.” (Sand Sculpture Festival website)
