Three BusyBees had a very full day; along with 3 boxes of toys (one for each class), they were driven up into the mountains where they attended the opening of the Dirgenler school at 10:00 am. Several officials attended including the Kaymakam, the Education Manager, and the Muhtars from Kasaba, Dirgenler and Karadağ. See the Dirgenler and Karadağ photos in this Picasa Photo Album.

They were then on to Karadağ where the entire event was repeated, however there were twice as many children as there are two different classes here.
The three Bees were then taken to the Kasaba school where they spoke with the Muhtar and the School Manager and were also given a welcome lunch. The Kaymakam and Kasaba Muhtar asked to Bees to accompany them to a village house where they met a family of three; mother, father and baby boy. The father is disabled and unable to work at the present time and the Bees were asked if they could give assistance.
Consequently two of the Bees went home and raided their cupboards for kitchen items (plates, cutlery, bowls etc.) and also went to the Bees’ store to find suitable warm clothing for the whole family plus a few toys for the little boy. The following day these bags of items were taken to the Kaymakam’s office and then out to the family that same day.
The Busy Bees ordinarily do not give money or food, and were set up to only offer help to children. They made an exception in this case to ensure that the family received warm clothing. The Bees will stay in touch with the Muhtar in case of other needs where we may be able to help.
Busy Bees-Kaş4Kids Committee and its Volunteers held a successful Christmas Coffee Morning at Kirstens Delicatessen so as to donate educational toys for the nine new village kindergartens.

The cost of the Coffee Morning was only 10TL per person and included tea or coffee and biscuits. Busy Bees-Kaş4Kids also sold cards, cakes, bric a brac, books and c.d.’s etc. and there was a Raffle of several very nice gifts. The proceeds were enough to kit out three more kindergarten classes. The Busy Bees-Kaş4Kids thank all who supported them, for attending, and a special thanks to those who made donations of gifts and made cakes and jams.
The first kindergarten to open was in Çukurbağ Village as can be seen in this Picasa Photo Album.
