Emre has been a dive instructor in Thailand as well as in Turkey. He can guide you to some of the better dive spots in the beautiful turquoise and clean Mediterranean waters around Kaş, Turkey, some of the Best Scuba Diving in the Mediterranean.
Emre speaks Turkish and English and is a lively and helpful guide whether you are diving, while on the boat, or on land. Emre can also guide you to some of the better restaurants and night-time activities when you are ashore. When Emre conducts a training course he says “we have fun but we work hard!”
Emre came to Kaş from his original home in Istanbul. While a student at Istanbul University in the faculty of Radio and Television Communication, he worked as an assistant director for the ATV television network for two years. After graduation from the university, he was the director for “teasers” for upcoming shows and serials on the NTV television network for three years before deciding to move to Kaş.
Emre had always wanted to live in a smaller place than Istanbul but also a place close to the sea. He felt that Kaş was the perfect location for this. He was attracted to Kaş because he had taken a dive course here in 1999 and enjoyed it so much he continued to return for diving trips.
In 2001, Emre approached Tefvik Serin, and asked for a chance to work on the dive boat. Tefvik agreed and Emre started as a “slave” on the boat and eventually worked his way into full time Dive Instructor and Guide.A man of many talents, Emre is also becoming an expert in Fire Poi, or Fire Dancing. You can take a look at one of his performances on this YouTube Video of Emre performing Fire Poi.
Emre estimates that he has over 3,600 dives since he started his professional dive career. His ability, his attitude and his calming affect upon students and divers on the boat recommend Emre highly among all those who are fortunate to encounter him on their travels.
He has many interesting stories but one which Emre shared is about a 75 year old woman who wanted to experience a Discover or “Try” Dive. She was a well traveled woman with many experiences in her life and she wanted a dive experience “before she died.” She was very scared and at the same really wanted to do this dive. After a lot of coaching and helping her into the water, Emre looked her in the eye and said “If I don’t die, you won’t die.” This seemed to reassure her and after a few false starts, she was eventually successful in her discovery of diving.Well done Emre!
