Kayak, canyon, walk and bike on the beautiful Turquoise Coast
The endless coastline, canyons and rivers of southern Turkey are a playground for adventures on land and sea on this multi-activity tour in Turkey. This week offers excitement and exhilaration with a host of included activities and a little relaxation thrown in for good measure. There’s a day of canyoning and cycling interspersed with SCUBA diving, sea kayaking, the impressive Saklikent Gorge and a walk to Patara National Park, with its Roman ruins and glorious beach. There is also a free day to enjoy more of the local delights or, for the more adventurous, optional paragliding. This trip is perfect for those seeking an active holiday based in the lively town of Kaş.Day 1
Fly to DalamanFly to Dalaman; transfer to Kas.
Day 2
Explore dramatic Saklikent Canyon with optional tubing, afternoon walk and relaxation on Patara beachWe head for the beautiful Saklikent Gorge where waterfalls cascade into the rapid flowing and extremely cold Esen River, which over millennia has cut a deep canyon through the ancient rocks. Using a walkway we explore the mouth of the canyon (see extra expenses) and can progress further in by getting our feet wet! Waterproof sandals may come in handy here. After the canyon walk you may have the options to try tubing; a fun activity in which you sit in circular rubber tube with a paddle and head off down river. En route there is the chance to stop and enjoy a mud bath. After a relaxing lunch near the mouth of the canyon we take a short transfer to the start of our walk. The route offers a combination of great views and Roman ruins, before arriving at Patara beach (entrance payable locally) one of the most beautiful in the Turkey, where we can relax and swim in the turquoise sea.
Day 3
Scuba diving day; beginners get a ‘Try Dive’ whilst certified divers have 2 guided divesToday is your chance to try diving at a local dive school. The PADI registered school uses top-quality European equipment and has a purpose-built dive boat. For beginners we offer a ‘Try Dive’ course, which includes a one-on-one dive with an instructor. Qualified divers can take a couple of boat dives. Kas boasts some of the best diving sites in the area and it is possible to see turtles and trigger fish if you’re lucky! Those who do not wish to scuba dive can accompany the excursion and snorkel instead.
Day 4
Full day canyoningThe mountains behind Kas are riddled with deep canyons. We normally use the Kibris Canyon, which offers some of the most impressive natural phenomena in the Taurus Mountains; a spectacular gorge, where springs and waterfalls cascade into the rapidly flowing cold river. It is ideal for canyoning – swimming, abseiling and leaping into pools of mountain water!
Day 5
Free day in Kas: optional paragliding, more scuba diving or relaxationFree day to do as little or as much as you like. Options include more scuba diving, a boat trip, a Turkish bath or just a stroll around Kas. For the more adventurous and adrenaline-seeking there is the opportunity to take a paragliding flight. The start point is 600 metres above sea level and the flight takes us out over Kas and the surrounding islands.
Day 6
Full day sea kayaking on the idyllic Turquoise CoastToday we spend a day sea kayaking in the crystal water of the Turquoise Coast. Depending on local conditions, our kayaking trip may include areas in and around any of the following: Kekova Island, Simena, Big Pebble Beach, Çoban Bay, Limanagzi beach, Çukurbag Peninsula, Akçagerme Beach or Incebogaz.
Day 7
Biking through the hills and exploring the forests and coastal roadsOur day mountain biking starts in Sütleğen where we head up into a cedar forest and follow the trails traversing the wooded valleys and the Kibris gorge on the left with some fast descents and a few challenging climbs to the highest point at Akörü. After a picnic lunch we continue along our route heading towards the sea. The day ends with long fast descents on rough tracks, and ultimately on to mountain roads all the way back to our hotel in Kas. This activity is fully supported by our driver and minibus in addition to our guides, meaning it’s possible to opt out of any part of the 45km ride.
Day 8

Essential info
Vaccinations and Visa
Holders of UK, Austrian, Irish, Portuguese, Spanish and US passports require visas. From 10 April 2014 it will no longer be possible to purchase a Turkish visa on arrival. This can now be obtained online at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ for approximately US$20. The visa is valid for a stay of up to three months (dependent on passport holder’s nationality). For a longer stay a visa from a Turkish Embassy is required. Visa regulations can change without notice; please check the current regulations in good time to obtain the appropriate visa if required. There are no mandatory vaccination requirements. Bilharzia is known to occur in some of the lakes or rivers visited on this itinerary, we therefore advise all to take advice from your guide or leader locally before venturing for a swim. We recommend you take the usual precautions to avoid mosquito bites. You may wish to consult your GP or travel health clinic for further advice.
Eating & drinking
Breakfasts normally include boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, honey or jam and yoghurt, olives and bread. Picnic lunches are provided on the biking and canyoning days, and a buffet lunch is provided on the sea kayaking day. All other meals will be at your own expense taken in local lokantas in Kas. For dinners, Kas has plenty of excellent restaurants and cafes for you to choose from, offering great regional specialities such as locally caught fish, Pide (Turkish Pizza) and Meze (mixed starters). Vegetarians are well catered for.Holiday style
This trip gives you the chance to go sea-kayaking, canyoning, and diving in addition to the Exodus staples of mountain biking and walking. There is also the option to try paragliding. Perfect for those who enjoy plenty of adrenaline along with sun.As with all our multi-activity trips, no experience of the activities is required for this holiday and those that have experience will not be bored, as there are a wide range of levels and grades to suit all. However, to enjoy this trip to the full, a fair level of fitness, skills and physique are required.
The itinerary is very active and long periods of time are spent outdoors or in water. As so many of the activities are water-based, we do not recommend that non-swimmers book this trip. There is a certain amount of rough and tumble and a few minor cuts and bruises cannot be ruled out.
